Impulsivity may be defined as a predisposition toward rapid unplanned reactions to internal or external stimuli with diminished regard to the potentially negative consequences of these reactions (Chamberlain et al. 2006). Impulse control disorders (ICD) are characterized by increased levels of impulsivity, and include, among others, pathological gambling, gaming, trichotillomania, and pyromania.
